Introduction

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are key non-state actors in development, operating alongside government, the private sector, and international institutions to address gaps in service delivery and advocacy.

Amnesty international 

Non-governmental organization refers to non-profit organisation that operate independently of government, although, may receive funding from government, international institutions, foundations or private donors. These organisations are involved in areas such as poverty reduction, education, health care, humanitarian assistance, environmental protection, human rights and community development.

They contribute to development through providing services to communities, promoting grassroots participation, responding to emergencies and advocating for social and economic rights. However, some depend heavily on foreign donors, and this can influence their activities. There may also be externally designed developmental projects which fail to reflect local needs.

In another way, NGO activities may also make governments avoid their responsibilities.

Conclusion

In summary, globalisation, FDI, MNCs and NGOs should not be viewed as if they are completely positive, beneficial or harmful. Their impact depends on policies, government and society.
